Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Personalized Health Care Workshop

Big data and artificial intelligence (AI) can benefit healthcare by improving patient outcomes, quality, efficiency, access to care, and engagement through a personalized health approach. With these tremendous benefits comes the challenges of mitigating bias, ensuring inclusivity to prevent health inequities, and incorporating social determinants of health data and other disparate streams of health data. Personalized health care is a holistic approach to engaging patients, caregivers, and the clinical team which focuses on proactive personalized care to improve overall health and minimize disease processes. The incorporation of big data and AI will alleviate an antiquated manual process, as it relates to personalized health care, and transform it into an automated approach that calibrates and adapts to individual patient and caregiver needs. This collaborative workshop aims to better connect the data science and healthcare communities with the current landscape of personalized big data and AI approaches for healthcare. In this workshop, we will increase the audience’s understanding of the importance of data science, healthcare domain knowledge, research collaboration, and the pioneering approaches to personalized health care. The motivation in organizing this workshop at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Big Data is to attract novel interdisciplinary papers on the various approaches and challenges of utilizing big data and AI in current personalized health research.

Topics of interest to this workshop include (but are not limited to):

  • Genomics
  • Wearables
  • Telehealth
  • Personalized health
  • Precision medicine
Authors of accepted papers will be expected to present their research at the workshop.
